**Using FlipID for Fast Driver's License Scanning in the Mobile App**
This guide covers **FlipID**, a built-in feature in the ScrapRight / iScrapRight mobile app (available on iOS devices like iPads) for quick, accurate scanning of driver's licenses and state IDs. FlipID uses your device's camera to capture the front of the ID, flip to scan the barcode on the back, and auto-populate customer details — saving time, reducing manual entry errors, and ensuring compliance with state requirements (e.g., PA scrap metal laws).

- Instant population of: Name, DOB, address, license number, expiration, photo (where available).
- Faster ticketing at the scale or payout window.

## Step-by-Step: Using FlipID to Create/Add a Customer
1. **Open the ScrapRight / iScrapRight App**
- Launch the app on your iPad (or mobile device).
- Log in with your ScrapRight credentials.
2. **Access FlipID**
- From the main menu or home screen, go to **Tools** (or **Setup** section).
- Tap **FlipID** (may appear as "Scan ID", "FlipID Scanner", or under Compliance/ID Tools).
3. **Scan the Front of the License**
- Hold the **front** of the customer's driver's license/ID in the on-screen frame/guide.
- Ensure good lighting (avoid glare/shadows).
- Tap the **camera button** (shutter icon) to capture the front photo.
- The app processes the image (may auto-detect or show preview).
4. **Flip and Scan the Back (Barcode)**
- Flip the ID over to show the **back** (barcode/MRZ area).
- Align it in the frame again.
- The app automatically detects/scans the barcode (no extra button needed in most cases).
- It reads encoded data (name, DOB, address, license #, state, expiration, etc.).
5. **Create or Match the Customer**
- After successful scan:
- App populates fields automatically.
- If new customer → tap **Create** (or "Save Customer") to add them to your ScrapRight database.
- If existing customer → app matches and updates/loads their record.
- Review/edit any fields if needed (e.g., add notes, vehicle info).
6. **Use the Customer in a Ticket**
- Exit FlipID → return to main app screen.
- Search for the customer (now appears in search results).
- Add to a new or existing ticket:
- Add materials/commodities.
- Capture photos of material/vehicle (if required).
- Weigh/enter details.
- Process compliance (signature, etc.).
- Payout the ticket (cash/check/ATM).
- All data from FlipID carries over for accurate, compliant records.

- **Scan Quality**
- Hold steady; use both hands if possible.
- Clean ID surface (no smudges).
- Avoid reflections (angle away from light sources).
- Works through car windows/glass in many cases (contactless option).
- **Common Issues & Fixes**
- Scan fails? Retake in better light; ensure barcode is visible/undamaged.
- No data populated? Some older/out-of-state IDs may not scan fully — fall back to manual entry.
- Customer not appearing? Refresh customer list or search by name/DOB.
