SR 103 - Materials
Text Transcript:
Hey guys, welcome back to the ScrapRight School. We're on episode 103 today. We're going to be talking about adding materials to your ScrapRight software.
So first off, we're going to pop up here to the tabs menu here. We're going to go to the materials page and we're going to select material groups. So we're going to start with the groups.
We always want to make our groups first. So right now you'll see I don't have any groups in here. In the top right corner, I'm going to hit add material group.
So when I'm setting materials, I like making the groups by a numbered code. I usually space them out by the hundreds. So my first group, I would make it group code 100.
And then I would call that the aluminum group. And thank you spell check. And then that aluminum group is now a non-ferrous type.
And then the compliance that we set up the other day is right here. So we want to make sure we check off all that compliance. Now there's a couple other things you can do.
You can set a minimum weight for the compliance. You can check it off as a cat, but we're not doing that for the aluminum group. So we will just click save material group.
So now that first group there is right here. And those are those, when I say material groups, those are those folders on the main ticketing page. And those are the ones you would click on that when they open the folder up.
And then you get your actual commodities, your actual materials inside of those folders. So this is how we kind of separate them, group them together. So this one here, the first aluminum group.
So we're going to add another one and I'm going to go group 200. I'm going to call that one brass. And that one is a non-ferrous as well.
I'm going to check off all the compliance, save that material group, and we'll go make one more that's a ferrous one. So we'll go, we'll just call it 300, just make sure we go in order. And that one I'm going to call it the steel group.
And we'll make that one a ferrous material, ferrous type. And we'll check off the compliance for that. And we'll hit save.
And now we've got all three of these groups here ready to go to get materials put in them. So if I wanted to go add materials, I'd go up, go back up to the, the tabs at the top. I'm going to hover over materials and I'm going to go to the actual materials tab.
So you see we have no group, no materials in here at all. So what I like to do is I like to make sure that I am in the group that I'm adding materials for. So I'm just going to go ahead and start with the aluminum group.
And then I'm going to click add material. So you'll get this window that pops up. There's three tabs inside of that little window.
The basic info, this is where you'd put, you'll put the code, the description, what group it belongs to, any kind of index pricing if you, if you want to follow any kind of index pricing. And I can go over that in a later video. Uh, the next tab is the configuration tab.
This is where you can, if you're doing vehicles, you can set up a VIN, you can set up to where it requires a VIN number and a bunch of other, uh, check boxes and features that, uh, that are there, uh, that we can go over. I mean, it would take, it would take a couple of videos to go over all, all the features and everything that we have here for the materials. But for the basic, for the basic, basic materials, we're just going to, um, be here on this basic info tab.
So I'm in my aluminum group. Uh, the first one I'm going to do is, uh, 101 because the aluminum group was group code 100. So the first material in that group will be code 101.
And you can make these codes, whatever it is that you want. Uh, they're not really super important. It's just kind of a placeholder and kind of a way to keep things grouped together.
Uh, if you have a different, uh, if you have a different kind of, um, grouping method, you're more than welcome to use that in the code box. You can do, um, you can also do, um, letters, characters, and numbers, either one. Um, so we've got the code we're going to go and tell it, maybe it's a aluminum sheet.
And then I'm going to drop down to the group and hit the drop down box. I'm going to tell it that we're in the aluminum group. Now watch what happens once I select aluminum, all the compliance boxes over here on the right-hand side became checked off because we had went through and we had checked it off prior in the actual group.
So that's why you want to try to, you have to set up your groups before you can set up your materials. That's why we always check off the compliance boxes first before we set up any of the, um, any of the materials. So, um, I'm going to go down here to base price to put something in there.
I don't know what, uh, I don't know what aluminum sheet's running for right now. I'm just going to say it's 30 cents a pound. So I'm going to go ahead and now that we've got all of that information, um, here you can also, um, change, uh, how you want to purchase material.
Uh, you could do it at, um, you know, 30 cents a pound or whatever price per ton, buy things by the each, the hundred weight, anything, anything in this year, you can adjust the pricing. So I'm going to go ahead and click save material on that. And now, since I'm only in my aluminum group here, it's showing me that I've got aluminum sheet.
Uh, let's go and add another one in the aluminum group. Um, that doesn't require compliance like aluminum cans. So I'm going to go add 102.
That's my next one in line. I'm going to call it cans. I'm going to tell it it's in the aluminum group still, cause that puts it in the folder, but then I'm going to go over here and just uncheck all the compliance because there's no compliance, uh, really for aluminum cans in, in just about every state.
Um, and I'm going to go down here and set the price, say it's a quarter a pound. So I'm going to save that material. So let's add one and let's add one into the brass group.
So if I go back up here to the groups, I want to make sure I'm seeing what, uh, what group I'm in. So I'm going to go to the brass group and you see, I have no material set up in the brass group. I'm going to go up here and add a material.
Uh, brass was the 200 code group. So I'm going to go to a one. I'm going to call it a yellow brass and I'm going to tell it it's in the brass group.
It checked off all my compliance and I'm just going to say brass is at $1.25 a pound and I'm going to click save material. And then let's just go now and go to the steel group and add one in there. So steel was the 300 group.
So we'll go 301. We'll go just, uh, shred and we'll tell it it's in the steel group. Uh, some states require compliance for, for just, uh, shred.
Um, some don't, but we'll just leave the compliance on and we'll just say it's at, uh, five cents, five cents a pound. We'll save that material. And now if I go back and want to see all the groups, there's all of my materials with pricing.
So after you have all your materials added, the most important thing to do is go and assign them to a workstation. In the scrap rate school here, we haven't gotten to the workstations video yet, but I have a workstation set up. So if you're just coming back to review the adding materials because you forgot, oh, I don't, I can't see my materials on, on the ticketing screen, coming back to review the video, here's where you're going to get your onto your workstations.
So after the materials are added, we need to go and assign them. So if we go to admin and configuration, because we're configuring how the software looks, feels, and reacts, uh, we're going to go down here to workstations. And right now I have an admin workstation.
So I'm going to click on the admin workstation. You can see here on this right side that there's no check boxes checked off here. If I open these up, you can see all my materials in here.
Um, and the cool thing is, is I can move these around, you know, I can reorganize them. Um, but if I wanted to just check them off, instead of going down through and clicking off every box, I can just hit the select all, um, or you can decide, uh, Hey, the, you know, the guys back at the floor scale don't need to see any of the steel, so I can uncheck the steel, but I can keep the rest of everything checked off. But for now, we're just going to have everything checked off.
I'm going to go and save that workstation. And then I'm going to go back to my ticketing screen. You can see down here at the bottom that I am on the admin workstation.
And here are my folders. So if I click in aluminum, I have cans and aluminum sheet in that order that I dragged them to because I moved cans up above the aluminum sheet. Uh, if I want to go back and there's my brass and then here's my steel.
So, all right guys, that is everything for adding materials in ScrapRight. Uh, thanks for watching the, the ScrapRight School 103 video. Come back again to C104 and we'll be managing workstations.
Thanks guys.
