Scraprite University: Guide to Creating and Managing Price Lists

This guide provides a step-by-step overview of creating and managing price lists in the Scraprite system. Price lists allow you to set special pricing for materials, either globally (applicable to all customers) or qualified (applicable to specific customers). You can create multiple price lists as needed, customize them with expiration dates, and apply pricing adjustments based on weight, percentages, or flat rates.

Accessing the Price List Section

  1. Navigate to the Materials tab in the main menu.
  2. Select Price List from the dropdown options. This will display any existing price lists.

Creating a Global Price List

A global price list applies special pricing to all customers automatically. It is ideal for temporary promotions or deals on specific materials.

  1. Click Add Price List.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the price list (e.g., "Scraprite University Global Price List").
  3. Check the Global checkbox to make it applicable to everyone.
  4. Optionally, configure the following:
    • Email Info: Select whether to email the price list weekly, monthly, or not at all.
    • Expiration Date: Set a date when the price list will automatically expire (e.g., end of the quarter). After this date, the price list no longer applies.
  5. Click Save to create the price list.
  6. Add materials to the price list:
    • Select a material (e.g., "#1 Copper").
    • Set the base price (e.g., $2.30 per pound).
    • Define weight thresholds (e.g., from 100 pounds to unlimited).
    • Specify the price adjustment (e.g., add $0.25 per pound).
    • Choose how the adjustment applies:
      • Entire Weight: The adjustment applies to the full weight if the threshold is met (e.g., $0.25 extra on all 101 pounds if over 100 pounds).
      • In Strata: The adjustment applies only to the weight exceeding the threshold (e.g., $0.25 extra on just 1 pound if bringing 101 pounds).
    • Optionally, set a material-specific expiration date.
  7. Click Save to add the material. Repeat for additional materials.
  8. The price list is now active and applies globally until expiration.

Creating a Qualified Price List

A qualified price list applies special pricing only to assigned customers, such as tiered levels (e.g., Tier 1, Tier 2) or specific groups (e.g., electricians, plumbers, steel traders).

  1. Click Add Price List.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the price list (e.g., "Plumbers Qualified Price List").
  3. Check the Qualified checkbox to restrict it to specific customers.
  4. Optionally, configure the following:
    • Email Info: Select whether to email the price list weekly, monthly, or not at all.
    • Expiration Date: Set a date when the price list will automatically expire. Leave blank for indefinite application.
  5. Click Save to create the price list.
  6. Add materials to the price list:
    • Select a material (e.g., "#1 Copper") or choose "All Materials" for a blanket adjustment.
    • Define weight thresholds (e.g., from 0 pounds to unlimited).
    • Specify the price adjustment type:
      • Per Pound: Add or subtract a dollar amount (e.g., +$0.10 per pound on the entire weight).
      • Percentage: Adjust by a percentage of the base price (e.g., +5%).
      • Flat Rate: Set a fixed dollar amount regardless of weight (e.g., $100 per vehicle).
    • Choose how the adjustment applies (Entire Weight or In Strata, as described above).
    • Optionally, set a material-specific expiration date.
  7. Click Save to add the material. Repeat for additional materials.
  8. Assign customers to the price list:
    • In the price list editor, click Assign Customers.
    • Search for and select customers (businesses or peddlers). Note: A customer can only be assigned to one price list at a time. If already assigned elsewhere, you must remove them from the previous list first.
    • Click Save to apply assignments.
  9. The price list is now active for assigned customers.

Assigning Customers to a Price List via Customer Profile

As an alternative to assigning within the price list editor:

  1. Navigate to the Customers tab and select Businesses or Peddlers.
  2. Search for and open the desired customer profile.
  3. Locate the Price List dropdown field in the profile.
  4. Select the appropriate price list from the list of available options.
  5. Save the profile changes. The customer is now assigned to the selected price list.

Best Practices and Notes

  • Multiple Price Lists: Create as many as needed for different scenarios, but ensure clear naming to avoid confusion.
  • Expiration Management: Use expiration dates for time-limited promotions to automate deactivation.
  • Customer Assignment Limits: Customers are limited to one active price list. Reassign as needed.
  • Pricing Flexibility: Adjustments can be positive (bumps) or negative, and can apply to specific materials or all.
