Inventory Overview
Inventory Screen – Basic Overview
This guide gives you a clear walkthrough of the Inventory screen in ScrapRight — what each section shows and how to use it. (This is the foundational overview — later videos/guides will cover regrades, upgrades, sales orders, purchase orders, etc. in detail.)
How to Access the Inventory Screen
- Go to Transactions module
- Click Inventory → This loads the main Inventory overview screen
Main Sections of the Inventory Screen
1. Left Sidebar – Running Inventory (Most Important Area)
Shows all commodities broken down by category
Columns you will see:
- Commodity – name of the material
- WIP Inventory – Work In Process (everything you buy usually starts here unless purchased as a finished good)
- Finished Goods – material that has already been packaged / upgraded / prepared for sale
- Average Cost – what you paid per pound (shows 4 decimal places)
- Value – total dollar value of what you currently own (WIP + Finished Goods)
Quick examples:
- Aluminum Cast → 6,940 lb loose (WIP) + 804 lb in finished goods → total value $3,028.68
2. Contracts Quick Access
- Second button on left side
- Shows all active sales contracts / purchase contracts
- Quick way to jump directly into a contract you are currently shipping against
3. Finished Goods Packages (very important area)
Shows all your ready-to-ship packages grouped by commodity
You will see:
- How many packages exist of each material
- Bale / bundle / super sack / etc.
- Location / note field (where you physically put it in the yard)
- Status (Available vs Allocated to a packing list)
4. Right Side – Detailed View (appears when you click any commodity)
When you click a commodity on the left (example: Aluminum Cast):
You will see four main areas:
A. Inventory Chart
- Visual history of every ticket / adjustment that affected this commodity
- Shows increases (inbound), decreases (outbound), adjustments
- You can switch view between weight and pricing
B. Inventory Summary Numbers
- Total Owned Inventory (lb)
- Sales Orders (lb committed to sell)
- Purchase Orders (lb committed to buy)
- Total Inventory Position (including POs)
- Position – tells you if you are long or short on that material
C. Financial & Margin Information
- Average Cost Owned
- Average PO Cost (if applicable)
- Average Sales Order Price
- Historical Margin ($ per lb)
- Projected Profit on current open sales orders
D. Available Packages / Allocated Packages
- Shows which packages are still available
- Shows which packages are on open packing lists (allocated but not yet shipped)
- Click a package → loads picture, weight, details
5. Top Right – “Greatest Hits” / Recent Activity
Quick list of the most recent things that happened to inventory
- Packages created
- Adjustments made
- Sales orders
- Etc.
You can filter this list:
- All activity
- Only adjustments
- Only packages
- Only sales orders
- etc.
6. Bottom Navigation Buttons
Quick access buttons across the bottom of the screen:
- Purchase Orders
- Sales Orders
- Material Stats ← takes you back to the main inventory overview (home button)
- Generate Reports
- Inventory Report (basically prints what you see on left side)
- Finished Goods Report
- Inventory Adjustment (add or remove inventory manually)
- Material Regrades (manual & auto upgrade processing)
Quick Summary – What to Look at First When You Open Inventory
- Left side – How much total inventory do I have? (WIP + Finished)
- Click important commodities → check your position (long or short?)
- Look at Finished Goods packages → how much is actually ready to ship right now?
- Check recent activity (top right) – anything important happen recently?
- Glance at margin / projected profit on open sales orders
That’s your fast 30-second health check of inventory.
