# ScrapRight Training Guide
**Customizing Receipts and Weight Tickets (Ticket Builder)**

This guide covers how to use the **Ticket Builder** feature in ScrapRight to customize what prints on customer **receipts** (payout receipts) and **weight tickets** (pre-payout weight slips). Customization lets you control layout, content (e.g., add/remove fields), paper size, and include your business disclaimer — ensuring professional, compliant, and branded printouts for every transaction.

**Why Customize?**
- Match your yard's branding and information needs.
- Include required legal disclaimers (e.g., state-mandated language).
- Adjust for printer types (3-inch thermal, 4-inch, or 8.5x11 full sheet).
- Show/hide details like compliance notes, photos, or extra fields.

**Prerequisites**
- Admin access to the software.
- Printers configured in **Workstations** (see ScrapRight 104 guide).
- Test printing after changes to verify output.

## Step-by-Step: Accessing and Customizing

1. **Navigate to Ticket Builder**
   - Go to the **Admin** tab (top menu).
   - Scroll down and select **Ticket Builder** (under Configuration or similar section).

2. **Understand the Interface**
   - The screen splits into two main areas:
     - **Left Side**: Customization options — what you can **add** or **remove** from the printout.
     - **Right Side**: Live preview — shows exactly what your current ticket/receipt will look like as items are added/removed during ticketing.

3. **Select Receipt or Weight Ticket Mode**
   - At the top: Toggle between **Receipts** and **Weight Tickets**.
     - **Receipts**: Full payout receipt (includes prices, totals, customer info, payment).
     - **Weight Tickets**: Simple inbound/outbound weight slip (gross/tare/net, commodities, ticket # — no pricing; often printed at scale for customer to bring to cashier).

4. **Choose Paper Size**
   - Options typically include:
     - 3-inch (thermal receipt printer — compact, common for payouts).
     - 4-inch (wider thermal).
     - 8.5x11 (full letter size — for detailed receipts/check stock).
   - Select the size that matches your printer setup.

5. **Add/Edit Disclaimer**
   - In the **Disclaimer** field: Enter your custom text (e.g., state-required language like "Seller certifies material is not stolen" or your yard's policy).
   - This appears at the bottom of receipts/weight tickets.
   - Keep it concise but compliant — check PA or your state regs for mandatory wording.

6. **Customize Content with Checkboxes**
   - On the left: Series of checkboxes to **add** or **subtract** elements.
     - Common options may include:
       - Customer name/ID/photo
       - Vehicle/plate info
       - Commodity details
       - Weights (gross/tare/net)
       - Payout amount/totals
       - Compliance notes/images
       - Signature line
       - Date/time/user
       - Your logo/business info
       - Extra fields (notes, ticket #)
   - Check/uncheck to show/hide items.
   - Preview updates instantly on the right side.

7. **Save Your Configuration**
   - Once satisfied with the preview: Click **Save**.
   - Changes apply immediately to **all future** receipts/weight tickets from this point forward.
   - Existing tickets are unaffected.

8. **Test the Changes**
   - Create a test ticket (or use a demo mode if available).
   - Process to payout/weight print stage.
   - Verify printed output matches preview:
     - Correct paper size/format.
     - All desired fields included.
     - Disclaimer prints clearly.
   - Adjust and re-save if needed.

## Best Practices & Tips

- **Start Simple**: Begin with defaults, then add/remove one item at a time.
- **Compliance First**: Always include required state language in disclaimer (e.g., PA may need anti-theft certification).
- **Printer Matching**: Ensure workstation peripherals match selected size (e.g., 3" thermal for receipts).
- **Multi-Workstation**: Customizations are global (apply system-wide); test on different stations if needed.
- **Backup Changes**: Note your settings before major edits — screenshot preview if helpful.
- **Advanced**: Future updates may allow more layout control (logos, fonts) — check release notes or support.

**Troubleshooting**
- Preview doesn't match print? Check printer drivers/paper size in workstation config.
- No changes? Ensure you clicked **Save** and test a new ticket.
- Missing options? Confirm your subscription includes Ticket Builder (contact support if locked).

This quick customization makes your receipts professional and compliant — customers notice the difference!
