# ScrapRight Training Guide  
**How to Connect Your iPad to the ScrapRight Database (iScraprite App)**

This guide walks you through setting up and connecting an iPad to your ScrapRight database using the official **iScraprite** app. This allows your team to use iPads for ticketing, material entry, payouts, and other functions directly from the yard.

### Prerequisites
- A ScrapRight account (cloud-hosted or local server).
- An iPad with internet access (Wi-Fi).
- Admin access to the ScrapRight web portal to create/manage users.
- The correct server address:
  - **Cloud-hosted customers**: Your assigned URL (e.g., `https://r2.scraprite.com`).
  - **Local server customers**: The LAN IP address of your server (e.g., `192.168.1.100` or similar).

### Step-by-Step Instructions

#### 1. Create or Verify a User in ScrapRight (Web Portal)
The iPad app requires a dedicated user account with a username, password, and 4-digit PIN.

1. Log in to the ScrapRight web admin panel.
2. Go to **Admin** → **Users**.
3. Click **Add User** (or edit an existing user if preferred).
4. Fill in the required fields:
   - **First Name** – (e.g., “Yard iPad” or employee name)
   - **Permission Level** – Choose the appropriate level (e.g., Administrator, Cashier, etc.)
   - **Username** – Unique login name for the user
   - **Password** – Strong password for initial login
   - **PIN Number** – A 4-digit code (this is used for quick logins on the iPad after the first time)
5. (Optional) Set additional permissions:
   - Allow manager override
   - Allow payouts from the iPad
   - Other role-specific settings
6. Click **Save** the user.

**Important**: Write down or securely share the username, password (for first login), and especially the 4-digit PIN.

#### 2. Download and Install the iScraprite App on the iPad
1. Open the **App Store** on your iPad.
2. Search for **Scraprite**.
3. Locate and select the app named **iScraprite** (ensure it’s the official app from ScrapRight).
4. Tap **Get** / **Download** and install it.
5. Once installed, tap **Open** to launch the app.

#### 3. Activate and Connect the iPad to Your Database
1. On the first screen, tap **Activate Your Device**.
2. Choose the correct server type:
   - For full **ScrapRight** (most users): Tap the gray button on the right labeled **Scraprite**.
3. In the **LAN IP Address / Server URL** field, enter your server address:
   - **Cloud-hosted customers**:
     - Start with `https://`
     - Then add your full URL (e.g., `https://r2.scraprite.com`)
   - **Local server customers**:
     - Enter only the LAN IP address of your server (e.g., `192.168.1.100`)
     - Do **not** include `http://` or `https://` unless instructed otherwise by your IT team.
4. Tap **Connect to My Server**.
   - The app will attempt to connect. If successful, you’ll see a confirmation.

#### 4. Log In to the App
1. Enter the **Username** and **Password** you created in Step 1.
2. Tap to proceed.
3. On the next screen, enter the **4-digit PIN** you assigned to the user.
   - After this first login, the app will go straight to the PIN screen on future logins (faster access).

#### 5. Verify Connection
- Once logged in, the iPad should now show the main interface.
- You will see only the **materials**, price lists, and workstation settings assigned to that user/workstation.
- The iPad is now fully connected and ready for use (ticketing, weighing, payouts, etc.).



That’s it! Your iPad is now securely connected to your ScrapRight database and ready for yard use.
